Who said being a mom is easy??? Wow, I cannot believe how busy I am each day! It literally feels like I am running all day non-stop. Whether you are a stay at home mom or a working mom, it is very difficult to devote time to yourself. However, this “me-time” is essential to maintaining your overall health and happiness. So let’s learn more ways to de-stress for moms!

Dedicating at least 30 minutes for yourself can make a world of difference to your health and overall happiness.

I know you are probably wondering how in the world you can ever find 30 minutes for yourself. This brings up a great point! You won’t just find 30 minutes a day. You have to make this time. This can only happen if you are intentional when planning out your days and weeks. Think of specific times that you could sneak away to enjoy some quiet time by yourself. I use my mornings for my me time. This is the time when nobody else in the house is awake and I can do whatever I would like!

Once you have identified the time that you can spend on yourself, you have to decide what you will do during this time, how you will make sure you follow through with your plan and SCHEDULE it into your calendar. Here are my top 5 recommendations for productive “Me Time” activities that will help you become healthier and happier.

ACTIVITY #1: Read Personal Development Books

Reading personal development books changes your thinking and it’s definitely one of the best ways to de-stress for moms. Bottom line, if you have a hard time staying positive or need continual positive reinforcement in your life, this simple daily activity WILL change your life!

ACTIVITY #2: Workout

A 30 minute a day workout regimen can make a world of difference.

Endorphins released after a great workout can increase your mood and increase your energy levels. Both of which are definitely needed to keep up with your kids and endless responsibilities.

ACTIVITY #3 Pamper yourself

There are so many ways that you can pamper yourself at home that won’t break the bank. Do you wonder what it would be like to relax and take a hot bath without kids pounding at the door? Taking a hot bath is one idea.

  • Exfoliate your skin and finish with lotion
  • Light candles and play some relaxing music
  • Give yourself a manicure or pedicure, relax and enjoy your favorite tea



ACTIVITY #4 Meditate

Meditation is something that was introduced to me this year by my hubby and it is one of the best ways to de-stress for moms or literally anyone else.

I continually have a hard time shutting off my brain. I am always thinking. He taught me to sit, relax, and focus only on my breathing for 15 minutes. It’s amazing how relaxing this can be!

I know there are many strategies and approaches to meditation. Find one that works for you.


ACTIVITY #5 Work on a hobby

Do you have a hobby that you rarely get to spend time on? What are you waiting for? If it makes you happy and helps you relax, make time for it!

Working on a hobby OR finding a new hobby to try out is a great way to find more time for yourself and immerse into something that makes you happy, gives you new insights, help in further decision making and just relaxes you.
