So many aspiring entrepreneurs struggle with the thought of eventually leaving their career path to pursue another dream.
I get it! I paid over $60,000 for a Master’s degree that I’m not using.
Yes, this completely sucks!
I’m here to tell you that it happens and it’s OK to feel uneasy about it. Most of us started down the path to higher education when we were young and had no idea who we truly were let alone what we wanted to be when we grew up. We were taught at a very young age to go to school, get a degree, and then work our lives away.
You know exactly what I’m talking about! It’s the American Dream!
I believe that YOU are here reading this because you are different!
Somewhere down the road you started to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. You started to dream about doing something different, being your own boss, or simply doing something lights you the hell up.
You think about it a lot. You go to sleep thinking about it, you wake up thinking about it, and you day dream about it at work. Then BAM, reality sets in and you remember that Master’s degree that you worked so hard for or that job that you fought so hard to land.
You tell yourself to stop being stupid. “You know how crazy it would be to leave everything I’ve worked for? My job, my benefits, my salary, my identity?”
So, you stay stuck…
Stuck in the rut of life. Going through the M O T I O N S. You dread Mondays, find some excitement in hump day, and are passionately in LOVE with Fridays!
This was me! I had worked my way up in my field. I loved serving children and families, loved knowing that I was making an impact, but dreamed about something bigger. I need to stop going to the motions. I needed to be challenged and to feel like I’m making a huge impact on the world.
One day, I made the decision to put aside my excuses (including my expensive degree) and start building my dream.
I worked my home business for four years. When I felt secure enough to leave, I left my job and became a stay-at-home mompreneur.
Since then, I’ve experienced what true freedom feels like. I’ve learned so much about myself, my children, and my spouse. I am able to feel at peace most of the time rather than stressed. Above all, I’m able to earn an income from home working alongside my kiddos!
How amazing is that?
So, the next time you feel that you can’t become an entrepreneur because of your current degree or job status, think again. Your experiences in life all happened for a reason. I truly believe that you would not be here reading this right now if you weren’t meant for greatness!
Get over yourself and figure out exactly what you need to do to shine your light on the world.
